OpenGut — Interoceptive Wearable System

A soft-bodied wearable that renders gastrointestinal bioelectrical signals as real-time multimodal feedback, extending conscious access to gut-brain axis activity.

OpenGut is the prototype system underlying the CHI 2024 paper of the same name. The physical system consists of a flexible sensor array, a Raspberry Pi–based signal processor, and a companion spatial computing app for Apple Vision Pro that renders gut activity as a navigable 3D soundscape.

Role

Research lead, hardware prototyping, interaction design, user study design.
